limegreen 2 | 12 10 Jun 2007 / #1Hi, My great grandfather came to New Zealand in 1876, from Pojolton,Subkau, Poland west Prussia. He was married to Barbara Zella in 1874 at the catholic church in Subkau. His father was Ignatius Zimmermann, and he was a shop tailor, His mother was JulianaCassatioski. His Grandfather was Milodam Zimmermann.Three of his brothers came to New Zealand on the same ship, one was Michael Zimmermann born 1852, Statgard Poland. The other two brothers (we don`t have their names) Left New Zealand shortly after arriving and went to the USA.There are other family members that either stayed in Poland in 1896, or may have got on boats that took them to other countries. To date we have been unable to find this link.If you have any info that might help I would appreciate itthanks

szkotja2007 27 | 1,498 24 May 2008 / #11Not of much help to you and something you probably know already... but....perhaps the most famous Zimmermann's ( Bob Dylan ) family came from Odessa.
OP limegreen 2 | 12 7 Jun 2008 / #12I didn`t know about the town that Bob Dylan`s family came from, I did know that he is a Zimmermann.I think he also has Jewish in his family. He has the same big nose that our family has been blessed with (I was told by my father that we have a Jewish nose)
