Hi everyone, I am joining you from Sydney, Australia. I am looking for your help to find my sister. A few years back my father had been to US and later he was back to Australia where he married a lady(the lady is now my mom). Later, I was born and when I grew up he revealed to me that I have a sister in California. I know her name and the initials but now I am not sure that whether I should make a search for her as I don’t even know if she’s alive and well. So, if anyone of you knows any ways by which I can find her existence, then please let me know about that. If you could give me any sort of help…it would be appreciable.

Thanks in advance.

If money is no object or at least not a majro concern, I suggest you engage a private investigator to track her down. There must be a slew of California-based ones listed on the net. Good luck!

Ancestry.com for the USA has a living people finder. You do a search for a surname or both names and can choose to view living people by state.

You do have to be a paid member to view the results, I believe.

I would check to see if any death records show up.

If not then I would try: Facebook, MySpace etc. With some of these sites age can be added to the search... narrows it down a bit.

School, university websites.

Have you tried entering her name in your search box... sometimes you get a link straight to a school photo or something. If they have achieved something in life you may get a work related link.

Your major problem is did she change her name upon marriage. This would give a problem with death details and other obvious problems.

Intelius.com allows you to search by state or all states. Depending on how common the surname is, it may be helpful.
A general search is free, then you can pay to get whatever details are available.

Ancestry.com also lets you search first and then pay for whatever details are available. Ancestry allows you a free trial, choose the monthly membership and then you can cancel after a few days if you didnt find it useful (you have to supply a credit card number.)

if you google "white pages" you will find telephone directories, usefulness depends on how common the surname is, also many people do not have their telephone number listed.

I think intelius should be enough though, no need to pay a detective.
