What Is The Next Step in my genealogical research in Poland?

Hello everyone. I have learned the names of the villages that my Polish grandparents emigrated from by looking at the Ellis Island ships' manifests. I am traveling to the villages next month with my Father and would like to know if there is a means for me to continue the research further back before departing. There isn't much information I could find on the villages (Futoma and Harta). It would be nice to find out if there is any family left there that we could contact prior to our departure.

Any suggestions?

If you have a Mormon facility near you and accessible, you could look up the villages there. Mine only has indexes and I have to order the films. That could take some time.

They have birth, death and marriage recordings of most places.

Or if you google the village district along with geneology, (i.e. geneaology, Poznan). You may find websites with individuals working on similar names or

who have already looked at the Mormon films in your ancestral area and transcribed the records onto their computers They might have some information to share.

Or possibly, when you are on your trip, go to the church where the records are kept, or the state archives.

Try straty.pl. Go to zaawansone - then in miejscowosc type the village names and list of people appears.. it has pretty good info, such as DOB, mothers name etc..
